I just had a new floor put in and the last thing I really want to do is put screw holes into it... But how else would i attach my bench seat too it? There where 8 screw holes total from when the old floor was still in that the bench seat attached too..

Should I just use some L brackets and seal up the screws/hole with 5200?

What kind of boat? Pictures would really help, the boat and the seats.

They made L brackets out of wood pretty much... I could eliminate the extra piece of wood and just use an stainless L bracket instead... and seal it up with 5200... that the best bet?

As long as you predrill, and coat the holes and the screws with 4200 not 5200 you should not have the same issues as before. If the wood's sealed water will NOT be an issue.

No matter what your going to be screwing in to the deck.

If you want to be anal about it .. you could dry fit the seat .. epoxy coat the holes a few times .. bed down with 3m 4000 or 5200 for the final instal.

With or without the 'cleats' or the 'L brackets' you are still in the same situation .. drill/screw/seal to the deck. It doesnt matter. You still have to seal the screw holes.

I personally would use the same setup that you have on your seats. .. Dry fit/screw and bed.

Use caulk on the screws themselves too mate ..

YD.
