Gentlemen, I have no problem with members knowing that you are in the business, but:

Offering to sell products or services here is forbidden, as is posting a link to your commercial operation.

We all appreciate the helpful advice you both offer. Please limit your participation to that.

Thanks for your help and cooperation. :)

Re: Attention: Force01 and TMD

I do not have any links to the business I work at.

I removed them some time ago when I was told to by the MOD.

The only time I will mention product is if I am asked directly. If and when I am asked...Iboats comes first. If it is a product that Iboats has sponsors for..I direct the customer in that direction.

An example:

posted September 17, 2003 02:11 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can buy a kit...it will be cheaper that way.

If you choose to do just the impeller I believe one of the sponsors of Iboats can help you out.

But for a Kit you will have to go directly to a Mercury/Force supplier.

TMD

--------------------

TMD

JB,
I have been working on nothing but force and chrysler outboards for over 20yrs as a dealer. after a 10hr day at the shop i try to sit down at the computer and help out some of your posters with their problems. If i pick up a little parts business here and there that is great. But if you are not going to allow this you going to lose posts from all the experienced mechanics that have that have the knowledge your posters are looking for. Then what will your posters be left with? People with absolutely no experience trying to answer their questions.

Gents.

This site is owned and operated by a Marine Products retailer, iboats.

There are many marine products and services professionals who regularly contribute without offering their products for sale.

The problems and potential bad feelings that would be associated with judging what offer does and what offer does not interfere with iboats current and future business interests make it necessary to ban any "for sale" offers and any "want to buy" solicitation.

iboats appreciates the frustration this may cause those who seek something that iboats does not currently offer or have an item that would solve a poster's problem. An exchange of Email, off the site, can alleviate that frustration.

It is no fun deleting posts that violate, or appear to violate this policy in attempts to help, but it is the policy.

If we lose the helpful advice of a few because they insist on doing their business in our place of business it is with regret.

Thanks to guys like TMD and Force01 for their help, advice and cooperation. :)

I just want to say thank you to the Marine Doctor and I didn’t mean to get you in to any trouble on this board. Free good advice is hard to come by with some of these old Force motors and you always point people in the right direction. Your post did not seem like you were soliciting to me, I honestly did not know if an impeller was included in a water pump kit or not and once again you set me straight.

Thanks again!

Re: Attention: Force01 and TMD

Force01....ya' got it all wrong. I'm a Johnny/Rude dealer with links to Merc/Mariner and Chrysler/Force on which I do a lot of work at my shop. I've been on the forum since....well I can't remember when. Since I've been on the forum, I have NEVER offered any parts from my shop or have solicited to sell any. It hasn't hurt my shop one bit.

The idea on these forums is to help the everyday boater with his problems and hopefully set them in the right direction. I think I can do that without trying to make a buck and these forums are appreciated by those folks and even the mechs that help. Shoot....I've learned a lot from these posts myself. TMD graciously took his links down and continues to help. In my book, that says a lot about that guy.

I don't think anyone on the forums wants to loose a good wrench with experience. Lord knows we got enough posts to go around and I'm sure iboats appreciates all the help contributed here. But if you think we are going to loose mechs because they can't sell, your just plain wrong. There's just to many of us that enjoy what's happening here.

I do hope you stay.

Jim
