Yep, I believe that's the part number he was looking for.

Hope you get it. The motor I use is not flanged and I wasn't even aware that there were different configs.

You must have one of those itty bitty motors, too, KaGee. :D

Nope, bid $56 and $60 within 20 seconds of end (it was listed at $44) and was outbid, went for $61. I'll probably call the credit union and get a withdrawal for the $110. and buy it from another ebay seller.

I had a friend of mine weld a 9/16 nut on the end of the shaft, reinstalled it, to see if I could turn it by ratchet, no-good. Slips off the groove without being in a straight line like the housing holds it in. Worth a shot. The spring and coupling fell out, so I had a helluva time trying to refit those with my limited reach. Weather is still cool (50-60) so it's not like I'm missing prime season....yet.

Re: Attention JH19

sorry to hear. Your variety must not be most common for OMC. I've never noticed that style before. I checked the ebay auction and it looks like the winning bidder actually placed his winning bid 5 seconds before you did. His actual bid was higher than the $61.00 he won it with.

The second in line bidder bid $60. and that bumped the winners proxy bid up to $61.

Understand all that??

I'm not sure about your welding business but did you try to run your tilt motor without it being attached to the IM housing.

you should post a pic. I can't visualize why you have such poor access.

Re: Attention JH19

I tried running it after I un-installed it, nada.
I also tried a straight wire to each lead (blue then green) while it was grounded to the block and got a spark at each wire. It got juice, but was seized. As far as the welding goes, if you took apart the motor, removing the armature assy, it has a shaft through it. One end is grooved and fits onto the worm gaer in the intermediate housing. The other end, I welded a 9/16 nut on so I could turn the entire armature assy while engaged in the worm gear, but since the housing held the armature "into" the worm gear (and the housing was now nonexistant) it "popped" out of the worm gear....it all makes the motor seem silly.......As far as a pic goes, all I have is a pic of my boat, and if I can borrow my daughters digital cam, I will post up a pic of the access. I have to lay on my stomach and reach under the port rear engine mount while the trim is down all the way, (so I can fit my arm under the engine). If the damn gas tank wasn't there, it'd be a cake walk.......

I have a question for you. Is there a way to lube a steering cable? Mine is tight and staggering turning port, easy the other way.

Thanks Boomer, you and all the others have been a great help.-Jeff

I assume you have the true course steering? That is a double cable with a drum at each end? If yes, will dig up a post that I described the lubrication proceedure. Mine was getting so tight I thought old age was taking it's toll. Now the wheel turns with out effort.

Re: Attention JH19

Yup, won one on ebay tonight as a matter of fact. $51 plus shipping. Also ordered my carb choke piston parts too. Thanks for the links, I actually reached way in and greased up the gears underneath the outdrive, and the back of the steering wheel and it seems to have smoothed things out. We'll see on the water. Do you recommend adjusting the carb on the water, or will the lack of back pressure from the exhaust not make that much of a difference?
