Have a Question for you Don, how much horsepower will I lose if I install a full fresh water system with a block water pump, I have a 4.3lx with an Alpha Gen2.<br /> Thanks Don!

I was told that due to running a block water pump, saying that an extra belt to drive the pump will cut my horses.

check a racing forum. the difference will not be noticed. what are you going to do with the drive pump

I was told different things on this, one is to remove it so I dont have to worry about because it does nothing for the alpha gen2 but cool the motor. The other was keep it because its used to cool the drive. conflicting stories!

it also cools the upper gearcase

I knew it cooled the upper case on the pre alpha, alpha1, I thought it was just that small diameter tube running from pump to transome then engine and it didnt cool the upper case.

im glad you brought this up, i was wondering, I saw in a racing parts book that they sell a water pump removal kit, to do away with the engine mounted pump. Why would they make this, and if engine mounted pump not needed why would they use one originally?
