On the top of the upper gear case there is a oil dipstick. There is a seal there below dipstick screw and the one on my boat is molded to fit in the area below the screw (dipstick) Now I went to the shop and they gave me a flat rubber washer and I told them "that was not what was on there now" and they said that "the flat ones are all they have seen." Is a flat rubber seal a suitable replacement and what do you use? Thanks

The other one is molded to fit because it is old...a flat one is fine as long as it is the right size

I don't think the flat rubber washer over time molded to the cavity of the screw inset as mine is. There is not enough material to take the shape of what mine currently has. Do you guys use the flat seal or do you have any idea what I am talking about? I will post pics if I need to, but will be a day or two.

Its just a nylon washer. Mine too looked molded due to being old like mentioned. A rubber one is fine. I used an o-ring on mine.

I replace mine in my 800 stringer every year. Yes the top seal on the dip stick screw is a flat rubber washer.
