I have a 1997 mercury 60hp outboard (tiller model)
starts fine runs great. I get an audible alarm when the motor is at an idle speed for about 5 minutes or so. it doesnt matter if the motor is engaged in forward, reverse or in the nueteral position. it doesnt make a differance if i have just started the motor and it is warming up at the dock, or if i have run the motor for an hour cruising, the time frame is the same. when i drop the rpms to less than 1500 it takes the same time (about 5 minutes) for the audible alarm to go off. if i shut the motor off for about 5 minutes then restart it the alarm is not there and all is fine as long as i keep the rpms above the 1500 mark. any help would be appreciated!!
gunslinger_pa

Re: audible alarm?

You might want to post this in the Mercury troubles/repair forum. Here, we don't speak Mercury all that well.
