Well, it's winter and I'm in the mood for an upgrade in my boat stereo system. Speakers and amp are great but the audio display gets washed out in bright sunlight. Anyone else have this problem? I'd love to find a digital display that was clear under sunny conditions. Most all of our time on our boats is when the sun is out, right? Can anyone recommend an audio unit with a readable display under bright conditions?

Re: Audio CD/ receiver display

good luck on that one! I was a MECP audio installer for years and they just don't make the displays for that. I guess they figure that you will have a bimini or T-top or you will have it mounted in an electronics locker out of the elements. for the guys running open cockpit boats like us, we are screwed. I did see one thing at the marine trading post that might work, it's great for radio but the draw back is that's all it plays. the unit mounts pretty much any where. way back and high in your console and forget about it, a cable runs to a small unit about the size of a tac and you control station/ volume from there and the display was pretty bright. i gave up and just mounted one of those marine radio boxes (made ofr a CD player car style radio) to the under side of my polling platform facing forward. It stays dry and it works great, i do have to turn around to do any thing to the radio though whic isnt too bad i'm out there to relax or to fish not chanel surf

Thanks.... Several companies boast "sunlight viewable" displays on their units but without some "real" owner/operators' opinions, I'm not biting on their campaign promises yet.
