It is the anniversary of World War II's final end.

Many had family who lost their lives or good health in military service to the Pacific theatre during that great war.

God Bless all American military veterans, - and especially today, the memory of all those who served in World War II.

Amen.

Unfortunately, the memory of what they did for US is rapidly disappearing.

I was just a kid, but I remember that day well, Ladyfish. The lady down the street came out of the house beating on a dishpan yelling "It's over! It's over! Paulie's coming home!" She had a son in the Pacific. A great day.

Hey!That reminds me,I need to call my dad and tell
him Thanks for his service to our Country.
My dad was a Sgt. in the Army in the European
Theatre for 2yrs. and a Merchant Marine in the
Pacific Theatre for almost 2yrs.(On a supply
ship in Okinawa and got hit by a Kama Kazi)
Woke up in a Navy Hospital ship w/ only a few scratches and bruises.
Wish I could've got in the military.Tried the
A.F. in 1986,denied entrance due to med. back-
ground, then because of that was denied entrance to all other branches.
To All Vets-Thank You for your service to Our
country-THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA :)

My Pop was a B-24 pilot. He was based in Austalia. He was only 23 years old at the time. I'm 45 now and can't imagine doiong something like that when I was 23. But, then again, times were different then. I'll always be in debt to the men and women of the all volanteer Armed Forces of the Untied States.

G'Bear, sounds like our dad's shared some of the same dirt for sure. Do you know what squadron your dad was in? Does your dad talk about it much? My dad has never really talked about his experiences. The only things I've been told about it came from some of his crew members that have come to his house for a reunion. Some of the things they told were funny and some of them were down right horrifying. All his crew members came home from the war and up until 2000 they were all still living but I think several have passed on. I've met them all and I was in the presence of true heros when I did.
