Hmm. Not mentioning the make and model of pump or switch, it is impossible to guess if any adjustments can be made.

Take it apart and see for yourself. Be prepared to replace the thing. Fortunately those are not among the most expensive parts for yor boat.

Re: Automatic Bilge Switch

Here we have entered the raining season again. In this city, there is an ample residential area crossed by sea water channels. Many boats docked near condos and townhouses. Many unattended too, because owners are travelling or live in the country's capital city (300 km away). It is common to see boats just sinking because of the rain, right there, at the dock. I already saw the first one, almost completely under water. I saw some last season too. Very sad. The bilge pump system is very important. Do not think twice to keep it in perfect condition (battery, float switch, connections, and test it frequently!).

It can also save your life if something goes wrong and you need to hurry back to shore with a lot of water inside the boat.

ah...forgot to tell this story: a friend of mine (who introduced me to boating) told me that sometime ago, with a small 17 ft he had (very nice boat, called "Low Profile" because of the racing shape), he was returning to the marina from the islands here in Mochima Park. A big wave appeared and, you guessed, the bow entered the wave like a knife. Lots of water entered the boat. He told me that everything on board was floating. He lost towels, expensive sun glasses, etc, everything. But the bilge pump started to pump out water immediately. He continued at low speed, but without stopping the motion of the boat. The bilge pump did a great job, and he returned ok to the marina. Nice, huh?

cool it~ most cant be adjusted. side note...you dont want the pump going off to frequently if your not using the boat for long periods of time...it will drain the batt, then it wont work at all. also, if get one to sensitive, the water stuck in the rise to the thruhull cant be pumped out. this runs back into the bilge when pump shuts off. in boats with hi rise, Ive seen batts get drained because the unpumpable water keeps setting off the float switch.
