Good question.
It would vary depending on engine size and whether or not you had the three bubbas, cooler full of beer, food and fishing gear on board.
If you have a GPS you could calcuate it yourself.
All you need is the final drive ratio of your engine, prop pitch, engine speed and speed across the water.
I would think somewhere's around 20%.

Wave, I don't have a GPS, and I can calculate speed no prob, butn the missing link is either TRUE SPEED, or ACTUAL SLIPPAGE.......I guess I'm going to have to invest in a GPS. Speed is not a major factor, I do have speed sensor on Garmin 240, but I need to calibrate it.

On a planing hull pleasure boat 16-18 is quite a bit. Around 12 is pretty good. 10 is real good.

On a race boat 10% is horrible.

Yeah, he's like that. Sometimes he works.

He may be hard to find with the race in Homestead this weekend. It wouldnt suprise me if he had his motorhome parked at the track and doesnt leave until Monday. Lucky dog. I gotta go Sunday and come home Sunday.
