Plenty of water up here on the seawater seas,....

Though it's been a rainy spring, in January, control plan 2014d took effect,...
Main difference 'tween plan 1958d, 'n 2014d is the target window of lake elevation,....
1958d plans for 2' above to 2' below mean sea level elevation,....
2014d calls for 3' above to 3' below,....

Anyways,..... A state of emergency has been declared in town of Lyme,.... My town,....

This linked video shows the firemen, 'n my neighbor stackin' sandbags 'round our sunroom, at Deb, 'n I's little ghetto shack on the mouth of the Chaumont River,...the white over blue/ gray place,...
The pickup is backin' down my driveway, while I was out workin',...
I'd been there that mornin', 'n was already pretty much prepared for another foot or so,....

a friend of mine on facebook has been posting from his home town of Pocahontas AR with the flash flood there from the broken levee. showed pictures of the street he grew up in from his boat. most of the town is under water

going from drought to flood really sucks

Ayuh,.... I blame it on the new regulation plan, 'n the weather,....

The climate has been constantly changin' for billions of years, 'n will continue to do so,...
Adapt, evolve or become extinct,...
Taxes won't fix it, that's for sure, no matter the disguise,...

This is my 12th summer there,... it floods not every year, but every other, or so,....
The slidin' glass doors in front had a water stain, 'bout a foot high from a few years back,.....
I "Expect" that level to flood,...

There's a 'ell of a bathtub effect in that water,...
East end of the lake, big winds from the west, the water stacks up,....
Local rains compound the problem,... No more drought in Jefferson County,.... ;)

The good news is the drought is over and the bad news is the drought is over.

2014d sounds like a disaster in waiting. A foot one way or the other doesn't sound like much, but when wind and extra rain mean houses and businesses are flooded, that 1 foot counts.

Hope it isn't too bad for you, Bondo.

Hope it doesn't get any worse for you. Missouri has also been pelted with heavy rains the past 10 days. Lots of major roadways closed due to flooding. Here in central Illinois we had 5 inches of rain last weekend, and has been raining again since noon today with another 3 inches forecasted . The river by my house has flooded over the road south of my driveway, so to get to town we have to drive an extra 10 miles around. Good luck to you

Sorry Bondo. There's the inconvenience of it all ... and the pure mess water can make.

I hope everyone is able to come through it with minimal losses.

Bondo . . . you are even more famous with that news story, although the circumstances certainly are troubling.

I don't see the house boat . . . did you get rid of that? . . . might need it if the water keeps rising.

Just wondering if the water agency planners factored in what 3' of water rise does to shoreline properties versus the previous 2' rise :noidea: . . . of course with a lake system of that size, might be tough to get the water to go elsewhere.

Hope everything works our for the best Bondo.

Lots of places getting far more water than expected, but that's mother nature for you...... Oroville dam in CA that was washing over the earthen spillway a month or 2 ago (they thought they were going to loose the dam) and now we have a lettuce shortage due to the over abundance of water in central CA. More local to me, Lake Powell and Mead are raising this year due to the fantastic snow pack, 120% of normal! Lakes going up instead of going dry.

What gm said ... next even slightly political post will get this shut down. This thread is about Bondo and what is happening in his neck of the woods. PERIOD.

I don't see the house boat . . . did you get rid of that?

Nope,... Still got it Ted,....

When ya click on the link, the still pictures down the portside of the page are, My driveway the fireman is backin' down, then a 2nd picture of a red shed, then my sunroom/ patio/ dock,....
The one We walked through to get onto my barge only to find the dead batteries,....
The firemen are usin' my floatin' dock to get out along the front of the house to put sandbags in place,...
That's my tugboat on the floatin' dock, up-side-down,...

When ya click onto the video, the cover picture is that red shed, as soon as the vid starts, yer lookin' from up on the bridge, down onto my places,.....
Then it goes in for a closer shot, then to the marina across the river, at 10 seconds it shows the houseboat on it's wagon I built, behind the trees over at the marina,...
At 15 seconds, it shows McConnel's big new to him Chris-craft at the dock, 'n the fronts of both of my houses,...
Luckily, the hidden, obviously higher house is the 1 Deb, 'n I are movin' into this winter,.... aka: the Brown House, which is beige, 'n brown,...
At 1.10 you see the fireman backin' down my driveway at the Lemon house,... the next 10 seconds or so are my place,... from 1.33 to 'bout 1.48 is also my place,...
A few seconds later is my neighbor Tom's kitchen, with the orange, 'n white sandbags, 'n aluminum dock frame,...

As I said,.... This is no big deal for Me, I've been plannin' on it, happens quite often,....
Eventually, I see raisin' the elevation of that house/ dock/ patio 'bout 18" or so,...
I'll drive sheet pilin', 'n backfill with concrete,.... Someday,....
Wanta raise the 2nd floor of the house a couple feet 1st, then the entire lower level will become open/ semi-enclosed patio,....

Yea, Sam, I was just about going to post pretty much the same thing. I am so glad I decided to clear coat my boat yesterday, because it rained hard today and is very cool outside now. But we needed some rain as well and I always enjoy cooler weather.

The road 100 feet south of my driveway. The bridge you see on the far side is where the river normally runs but when it floods it takes a shortcut across the road. I would guess it to be 4 feet deep and flowing very fast. This drains into the lake we boat on, and it's forecasted to crest at 14 feet above normal pool. The lake is a flood control lake for the Mississippi river, so as of last night, the inflow rate was 22,700 cubic feet per second, and the dam was only opened far enough to release 410 CFS. It's been rising several feet per day the last few days
