I want to install a 10um fuel filter water separator on my Yammy 150
Curious if anyone is using the Bass Pro brand. 10um 60 GPH for $25
Sounds to good to be good?

On an outboard you really want a see-thru filter with a drain. It doesn't pay to go cheap with fuel filters.

A good 10 micron filter is best for todays marine engines, outboard, inboard or sterndrive motors. Obviously Bass Pro does not make them themselves but have them built with their logo. There are several good filters out there, some branded as aftermarket, some branded as OE. The see thru bottom is handy just like the all clear canisters. The main thing is the 10 micron whether it's the standard metal canister or otherwise.

It is 10 micron
Replacement filters are $9
I actually brought the assembly home but started having second thoughts.
Want to do the right thing, but if I don't have to spend $70 to do it that would be great.

9 bucks for a replacement filter (canister type) is about the industry standard. The replacement Yamaha canister is a bit more at 24.00 but it's a little longer. Some of the Racor filters are a little more too. You can buy a kit with a composite head for about 30.00. Pretty good deal since the head will never rust or corrode.

Re: B.P. filter/separator

It all depends on your boat/motor/fuel tank size, etc. I run a 90HP motor with a 12 gallon red plastic "portable' fuel tank, which I can dump and clean as needed, so I have very little, if any, water or trash in my fuel system, so my Walmart($27) fuel/water separater is more than sufficient for my rig. If you have a large, built-in fuel tank that you can't easily drain and clean, then a more sophisticated filter(Yamaha or Racor) would be much better. If you have much condensation/water/debris in your tank/fuel system, then the units with the clear, drainable bowls would be great. Get the unit that fits your needs, but be sure and get one! Good Luck!
