Backhoe attachment

So it looks as I will be adding this to the ditch witch I picked up last year, anyone ever used an backhoe attachment on their tractor/bobcat before??

I have never used it on mine, but quite often use it on my neighbors tractor, nice little piece of equipment, just be careful, it is not quite a rugged as the big boys and you can break it..double check to make sure all connections are tight before doing any work, any slop in connections will cause problems.

That said, for around the farm/home work, they do just fine..one thing to add, put some weight on the front of the tractor before you start digging, that helps balance things out and be careful if you are digging on a slope..

Cant speak for ditch witch but I've got a Kubota BX22 with a little hoe attachment on it and its handy to have but you cant dig up the world with it. IF the ground is hard the digging is slow. It too me several hours last summer to dig a hole to bury the neighbors dog in.

Other than that you'll have fun using it.

It is the A620 model with a 18 inch bucket, it is supposed to dig 9 foot deep +-.

as ehenry said, if the ground is hard, it takes a while to dig a hole of any size, but if your slow and steady with it, you should do ok, around here to dig a hole that deep requires dynamite! we have so many rocks and boulders digging a hole of any major size require a demolition team!

There's a big difference in merely making digging motions and actually accomplishing anything. A good operator makes a huge difference. That said, I'm not a huge fan of the Bobcat style hoe attachments, poor mobility and slow cycle time=low output. What you've got there would be handy for shallow work like sprinkler pipe and such.
Personally I like a good medium sized mini ex. I've used many a medium sized mini excavator that would damn near keep up with a full size back hoe, but can get into places a backhoe can't.

If I need to dig big holes I just go borrow the neighbours EX 200, OH YA, it's fun!!

This is more jobsite related for digging in utility pull boxes and service boxes, and YA for monkeying around the yard doing a little landscaping (sure beats a shovel)

I do like the trencher, it is set up for a 5 foot deep trench and 8 inches wide (hopefully no big rocks)
the nice thing about a trencher is that it is almost surgical compared to a hoe/excavator, and in the right conditions will do a third more completed prodution than them in a day.
(1 compleated yard every 45 seconds, and the bottom of the trench is pretty much clean and flat.)

Yup, trenchers rock for small pipe work until you hit sugar sands or boulders. Then, thou shalt be diggin'. Too bad your new attachment doesn't have a thumb on it, then you'd really be able to have some fun!

Ok and what exactly is the point of this??? I thought a mans job was to be busy doing things...if we actually acomplish something then its the wifes job to issue more things for the husband to do, so the way I figure it, if were busy doing something that we enjoy doing and the wife has no idea what it is were trying to accomplish and therefore has no idea if we have accomplished it then why would we accomplish anything to begin with?
