i have tore out the floor & foam from the bow to the drivers seat. and it had a 4ft long gas tank in the floor which i removed. the boat has a top shell (that im not lifting), so the inside of the boat is all moulded glass console, seats, etc. there is a livewell between the drive & passenger seats. all the glass structure eventually goes to the floor & was screwed down to to deck. anyway im only relacing from the bow to the livewell, my idea is to leave a hollow space between the hull & foam for water drainage, "glass in" the plywood & glass in everything else to the floor that was originally screwed to the deck i dont want to screw anything down! also i'm putting a drain in the floor right in front of the livewell, with pvc pipe going to the bottom so water can drain back. rather than puddling in the floor.
sorry for the long post, but can anybody see any flaws in this plan?

Re: backyard flooring project

catfish

What you have described is essentially the way my Stratos Fish and Ski is set up from the factory, except for the gas tank. The top shell or cap has the molded bow support, console and rear seat area. It also forms the compartments for the rear hatch area. I had to replace the floor from the console to the rear seats. This was 3/4 marine ply that was originally screwed to the floor stringers then glassed over and that is the way I put it back. It has an access hatch in the middle of the floor that allows water to drain to the rear bilge pump. It also contains the plastic drain line for the forward live well. Not a lot different that what you propose. I don't see any flaws in what your doing and I guess Stratos doesn't either. Good Luck!

Re: backyard flooring project

it is a 17ft bass boat but it does not have a forward live well. the livewell & driver/passenger are all one moulded piece, with the livewell between. in front of the consoles there is storage compartments on both sides with a small deck at the bow with two batteries under it. the drain is not for the livewell it is for the top floor to drain water to the back of the boat. originally the water would stand in this area because the seat bench stopped the water and everywhere they fastened the top to the deck (with screws) it leaked and rotted the floor.
i wish i knew how to post pictures for everyone without a digital camera. this is a fast moving project. (weather permitting)
anymore thought? after next week it wont matter, i'll be foamin & deckin this is my first flooring project, so if theres any flaws i'd like to here it before i'm finished with it. :)
