bad drive shaft?

I have a buddy that has a 1986 60 hp Evinrude. It broke down the other day and he took it to a shop. They said a bearing locked up on the drive shaft on the lower unit and ruined it. They are trying to find a shaft but cant. Is there any way to just fix this one? If not, does anyone know a place to get one cheap?
