Bad gas

So I have a Volvo Penta 7.4 GI in my boat. It's been sitting for a few years. Tried to fire it up at the house. Cranked, but wouldn't fire up.

Checked the fuel at the stem next to the pump. It's bad. Drained the tank and put 10 galllons of new gas. Removed the fuel filter and checked it. Looks good. Filled the filter with new gas and reinstalled it.

So I was trying to prime it and nothing but air comes out of the stem. Turn key on few seconds, turn off, check stem. I did this maybe 30 times and still nothing but air.

I can hear the electric pump come on and then shut off 2-3 seconds later so I believe it's working sinse I get pressure at the stem.

The fuel system has a high pressure pump and a low pressure pump.

Any help would be appreciated.

Take a gas can and put the fuel line going to the filter in it. See if it will bring up the fuel to start the motor

I did put the fuel line in a bottle with clean gas. That's when I was trying to prime the line and nothing but air.

Sounding like the pump is bad
Could hot wire the pump so it will run for a bit to see if it will pump up
