Hey guys

I asked about cleaning and installing the welch plug before but forgot to mention that the previous owner ( or whoever worked on it) butchered the previous welch plug install.

Im worried when I get the welch plug out that the carb casting is not perfectly round anymore and when I goto re install it won't seal right and not work.

Should I gamble removing this welch plug?

I have seen worse, your casting should be fine albeit a little buggered, just seal the new one or old one with clear finger nail polish

Cool

This is only the 2nd welch plug Iv'e done before. 1st one the casting was perfect so when I ran into this little snag I'd figure I would ask first.

Also If for some reason I screw up is there any way to just purchase a welch plug at a lawn mower store, and not a carb kit just to get a welch plug?

Thank you Mr Crabs !

I see it posted all the time that Eska carb parts are available at lawnmower shops....well not unless your in snow blower country, but the welch plug is a common 7/16 plug and most shops have a assortment box of welch plugs. I like the ones that come in Johnson carb kits...there thicker and set well unlike the cheap thin junk sold by some people for a $2 a pop.

i have a friend who has a small engine repair shop and he's got lots of unused welch plugs for the tecumseh carbs outside and inside of the carb. these are actual tecumseh leftover carb kit parts, if you send me a message in the pm room i'd be happy to send you some. have a good day, and as mr.crabs posted always apply a small amount of clear nail polish around the plug for an airtight seal.
