Yesterday morning it was cold and we got a dusting of snow. I went out to warm up the truck and flipped on the wipers to clear the snow off. Both wipers foze to the windshield, the drivers side pulled free, leaving the rubber attatched to the glass. The passenger side didn't move and the nut holding the arm came loose.

I get a new set of blades and replace the drivers side. I tighten the nut on the passenger side, and everything is fine :)

I forgot to change the passenger side wiper. I pull the old one off and as I get ready to pop the new one on, the arm pops down and smashed my windshield

I got so mad I threw my ratchet into the woods, craftsman won't be replacing that one, hopefully the kids will find it today.

Did you utter any words of wisdom as you sent the ratchet on it's way. :D ;)

At work once we drizzled water over the bosses w/wipers. When the dumb**** went to start his car, he realized the wipers were frozen but left them on. It wound up stripping (sp?) the grooved posts that the wiper arms attach to.
We didn't like him anyway! :D

Wow...Bad luck for sure...

How the heck did the wiper arm smash the windshield?
I wouldn't think they would have that much "uhmmff" behind them to do any damage?

H.

Oh, when I said "smash", its more like spiderwebbed. You know how the arm bends up 90 degrees and is supposed to stay there? It didn't. It just barely tapped it, couldn't do it again if I tried. It was about 10 degrees outside, so I am sure that didn't help. My two boys (6 and 5) were outside so I didn't yell words of wisdom, sort of choked them out under my breath. The ratchet is lost under the snow until spring, and my deductible for glass is $250. A new windshield for christmas, just what I always wanted
