Bad Powerpack ?

1989 johnson outboard 120 hp, replaced rectifier everything was fine except, i forgot to put the gasket on, took it back apart put gasket in put it back together and ,,,no spark at all, engine cranks but no spark, is it possable i shorted out the power pack ? heard a little spart putting it together but didnt see anything,,is there a way to test the power pack ????

i think you hooked the wires the wrong way.... if you heard a spark then its very possible you might've fried the pack.... you always disconnect the battery before you do any kind of electrical work...

Thanks, for the reply, yup, being an a/c service tech i know better but i didnt unhook the battery,,but i also didnt wire it wrong, wrench hit terminal ,,,is there a test to see if the power pack is bad ?
