I have no spark on my johnson 100 hp 1972<br />I used an ohm meter and volt meter to check the circuits. I checked the clipper with an ohm meter according to the manual. All of the tests on it showed open circuits, which means the clipper is bad. On the pulse pack I disconnected the blue wire and hooked in a small 12v bulb. The red and purple wires are both hot. While cranking the engine the bulb did not glow. So the pulse pack is bad. I found where I can buy a new pulse pack but I can not locate a clipper. Can anybody help me?

This old system can be difficult to trouble shoot if you do not have the proper service information, and tools. You will need to pull the flywheel to get at the rotor, dist. cap, anti-reverse spring, and sensor. All of these parts are expensive, and must be carefully checked. Take the clipper out of the circuit, and check for spark. The engine should fire without it. Make sure you have at least 9 volts going into the purple pack lead at cranking RPM. All connections in this system must be sound, and tight. R.Johnson

Tiger.... I'm curious as to the price of the powerpack.
