bad stator=battery charging probs?????

had stator problem...can a bad stator lead to a poorly charging battery... ?

Yes but the most common problem is dirt or corroded connections. Check them all to be sure they are clean and tight. Next most common is you rectifier/regulator. If you have ever connected the battery up backwards, even for a split second, the rectifier is toast. They can be checked according to your manual.

i changed the rectifier earlier this year... was having probs with the motor conking out when hot... took cowling off...no problems... and did a few other things... new stator going in next week, but i have noticed that battery is doesnt have alot of juice...have had to leave trickle charger on...i cleaned all terminals and connections...
