Bad Stator characteristics

I'm trying to track down a gremlin in my 1982 v150 ignition system. While looking through old topics, I see lots of "stator" issues or replacements.

I see the tests that can be performed for the stator.

In general terms, what are typical symptoms of a failing stator?

Loss of spark on a whole bank is the most common. (Of course a switchbox could do the same)

Another less frequent more difficult to diagnose problem is high speed misses.
