Hi all,
I FINALLY got my boat on the water, (Stingray 200lx, 5.7 Mercruiser, Alpha 1, gen 2) after 3 months of swapping the previously cracked block out and putting all components back together. Got the boat for free, did the labor of love, put it on the water friday.
As things usually go, I was 10 mins from exiting the water, trying to get to a slip. Realized channel was too narrow, low tide, and slammed her into REVERSE to avoid the dock. Long story short, prop is now bent/missing serious chunks out of each fin, and had a bad vibration on the 300 yard troll to another slip.
What to do now? Ive read all about prop damage possibly equalling shaft damage, but i cant tell if its bent or not. Do i make an insurance claim? Since i hit it in reverse the skeg is slightly bent to starboard, but only half an inch.
Thinking about just putting a new prop on and water testing for vibrations?
