Banging noise when throttling down to about half throttle

I have a aq231b with a 275 outdrive. Had boat out last weekend and when I was throttling down and would get to about half throttle it would make a banging noise which sounded like it was the outdrive. I have been having problems with my reverse latch not locking when in reverse and didnt no if this could have something to do with the noise or if I have 2 different problems. Thank you for any help.

Fix the known reverse lock down problem and see if that cures the banging.

Thanks for the reply don. Do you know of any adjustments that would fix reverse lock because my uncle who I got this boat from said he rebuilt the reverse lock a few times and it didnt fix the problem. He said he ended up having to adjust something but cant remember what it was. Thank you for youre help.

You can check these adjustments. Make sure the holes where the cross pin goes through the transom shield are not worn out.
