Hello,
I have Volvo-Penta 4.3GL SX 2001 and she has been running great this summer. My only problem is that at or near WOT (4200-4600 rpm) I occasionally hear a loud metallic thud which immediately goes away. Actually, it's hard to describe exactly how it sounds - not grinding, not high-pitched, just a loud whack. I thought it may have been the water smacking the small metal ladder on the underside of the swim step, but I ruled that out. There's no loss of power or rpm when this happens or it's not noticeable. This happens when I'm in a straight run only at higher rpm (>3200).
Any thoughts on what the culprit is and how I could verify?
Regards,
Dave
