How should I protect the portion of my motor bracket that remains under the waterline during the boating season? My boat remains in the water all season - I got barnacles on the motor bracket. Can I use the same bottom paint I use for the boat? I use micron extra.

I done know micron, it isnt sold here in Denmark, but i know you shold be carefull with a lot of theese paints on aluminium, and at least be sure to use a good insulating primer. My boat is in the water the hole season too, but i just remove the barnacles in the automn, when the boat gets up. Never seen any damage from them.

Phil- I also use Micron, and think it's excellent. On my bracket I use clear anti-foul spray. Let it dry between coats, I mask the area and apply 3 coats. Also every few weeks I reach over the transom with a long handle brush, and swish it around the area.
