The walls, doors and trim are painted, ceiling has been insulated with R30 craft faced fiberglass. I put it in with the paper facing down to help keep the fiberglass dust down while installing the ceiling. Both sides of the insulation will be heated so it really doesn't matter which side is up or down.

Started installing the ceiling system. I'm using the Armstrong Optigrid system. It's like a suspended ceiling that is not suspended. The ceiling beams screw directly to the joists so you loose only 1-5/8" of headroom. The beams are very flexable vinyl so it's possable to put in and remove a tile in the center of the room if you need access to something like a junction box or water valve. It uses standard 2x2 or 2x4 ceiling tiles, we chose to use 2x4 tiles.

Getting close to being done. After the ceiling is done we have to decide what to do for flooring. We just haven't been able to decide what to use. Vinyl tiles, carpet, carpet squares, and sheet vinyl is what we are considering.

Here you can see how the beam is screwed to the joist. The hole is where the cross "T"'s attach.

Make sure those can lights are IC rated with having that insulation contacting the can....
Looks nice.

Thanks Bob! The end is in sight!

Heyttown, yes they are IC rated. Unlike a steel grid ceiling system, this vinyl system does not want the cans resting on the beams. So they are tacked to the joists, and will be using the vertical adjustments to bring them down to the tile level. That will give a few inches more of air space between the top of the can and the plywood floor. Makes me feel better about heat buildup.
