Basic oil mix question for an Eska

Hey guys, new member here with a question. I picked up a beautiful Eska Golden jet 1968 5hp for next to nothing. The guy told me to mix it 25:1. Never heard of that ratio..... is that correct? Also, where would I find a connector to hook the motor up to a remote tank, rather than using the integral tank on the motor.

Thanks in advance,

John from MS

Hello Redkneck and Welcome,
The correct mix ratio for your outboard is 16:1

Check ebay for a connector or check out the links in the Eska Files post down there in my signiture

Re: Basic oil mix question for an Eska

Thanks for the help, looks like a wealth of information in those links! Never owned an Eska, but was looking for something smaller to get my jon boat in the smaller creeks and rivers around here than my bass boat. Sold my old 72 9.5 Johnson a few years ago and needed something to fit the bill. Just got it in today (ebay motor) will try to get it out over the weekend and see how she runs!

Thanks again!

Re: Basic oil mix question for an Eska

One more question. Ran the motor up the creek Saturday and it did pretty good. I do sometimes get a pretty good stream of gas leaking from the bowl (looks like a spring loaded drain plug) I can push it up and down a little and it will stop. Also are you supposed to adjust that fast throttle adjustment screw that is under the motor? There's an arrow on the label in the front that points to it. I tinkered with it and it did seem to help, along with the rich/lean knob on the front of the motor.

thanks again!

ditch that and get a non drain float bowl.

On the carb adjustments you need the Tecumseh carb manual...follow the Eska files link to the yaho group and you should find a carb manual.

nice manual there windy but the old manual address the outboard carbs a little better I think.
However that manual is a keeper...
