I'm looking at a 1982 Bass Tracker II to buy. It's a 15 foot with a 40 horse mercury. two live wells, fish finder. 34 pound thrust minnkota trolling motor, electric anchor. He has completely redone all the decking and has new carpet all throughout. The motor has about 20 hours on a rebuild. He's asking $1900.00 for it. Is this a good deal? I thought it was, but don't know too much about the Bass Trackers. Any info would be appreciated. Also comes with the trailer.
Thanks.

rdrfan,

At that age, all bets are off on finding comparables.

Don't get sucked in because of all the nifty features and gadgets. You need to make sure that the hull is sound (no leaks) and the engine performs well.

Do this.

1. Get compression readings on the enngine. If they're within 5-10% of each other. The engine is probably sound.

2. Crack open the bottom drain screw on the lower unit. There should be no water or milky oil.

3. Look under all of the decks and look at the quality of the wiring.

4. Walk around in it and look for soft spots, especially in the floor.

5. Probe the floor under the raised decks also.

For that price, it would have to be VERY CLEAN, in my book.

Yes it seems a little high. What is the year and model of the motor?

Re: Bass Tracker II

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not sure of the year and model of the motor. I believe he said it was the original motor that came with the boat. I'm going to try and go look at it next saturday. I will keep all this stuff in mind. Thanks again.
