howdy all. my pop is finally going to get rid of the old 16' sea nymph and buy a new boat. he's looking at a tracker 175 with the 50hp merc.
http://www.trackerboats.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.boat&nav=14&boat=985
he'll go for the whole package deal, which provides him everything he needs. he's set on the boat- really likes the features, layout, and price.

any opinions i can pass to him, on the boat or engine, would be appreciated. thanks-

Re: bass tracker

yeah mellow, it suits him more than the traditional bass boats- go-fast with two casting platforms strapped on. he thinks they are too difficult to get around in. he likes the open area in the middle and two small casting platforms. more sense of security.

any opinions on boat and/or motor... thanks-

Re: bass tracker

I had the bass boat version with full casting decks and small cockpit. Never tried the crappy version. Those big casting decks are great for stretching out on for a snooze. Besides the size of the casting decks another difference is that the helm is located further aft on the bass boat version. Which gives a little better ride. These boats are nearly flat bottom, so stability is excellent. Not nearly as tippsy as a V-hull. Nobody ever fell out of my boat.

These boats are superb for wiggling back up creeks. Not so good in big chop.

Mine had a 60 on it. Which was plenty, 50 should be enough too. But 60 certainly was not excessive.

Kelly Cook

Re: bass tracker

thanks kelly. my dad doesn't get around too well, so getting onto the casting deck is an adventure for him. with only him and my mom (270 lbs together), i think he'll be happy with the 50. big jump from his current 30 w/ tiller.

Re: bass tracker

He's gonna LUV having a console instead of the tiller! :D Steering upgrades are well worth the expense. Mine had the standard single cable steering and it was a real bear.

Kelly
