looking for information on the boat i just got. is anyone heard of bassmaster boat s? and where i can get information at ? i want to put it back to stiock condition and would like some help.thanks

this is the Volvo forum so we can help you with your drivetrain.

But first you'll need to get your numbers right. Volvo no longer offered the AQ225e in 1998. do you mean 1988? And the 270 outdrive wasn't used on that setup either. It may be a 275 outdrive...

Thanks for the correction. It is a 275. Registration says 89. Sure could be a 88. All new to me. Sounds like you heard of this before.

Thats sounds better. The boat could be an 89. My boat originally came with an AQ225e/275 outdrive, but has since been repowered.

Fyi, that is a GM small block 305 engine. very common motor. The 275 Outdrive is one of the last generation of the older style outdrives made by Volvo for decades. The 275 can be very good, but like everything else, needs preventative maintenance to keep going. It does not have power trim, only a mechanical tilt assembly for raising the outdrive for launching and loading, and for navigating shallows at idle speed only.

Thanks so much for the info. I thought it was a 350 ci. I should have it in the water this Friday to run it for my first time. Any suggestion on engine or outdrive concerns? I'm comfortable with the engine but the out drive is a different animal. To replace/ repair the interior, is it more cost effective to buy new or reupholster? Thanks for the input.

Concerns about the motor and outdrive would only depend on the previous owner. If the previous owner was up on maintenance, then you may be good to go. If not, I would be concerned about, but not limited to, the raw water impeller, ujoint bellows, outdrive oil, condition of the fuel and filter(s), tune up parts, etc.

If it were me I'd be going over everything before heading out.

RE: Interior, I would state another thread in the restoration forum. There is a lot of great help there with your hull and interior questions.:friendly_wink:
