Battery cable problem?

I bought a boat with a single battery (dual purpose) but they had 3 red cables and 2 black cables hooked up to it. I tried a new dual purpose battery and nothing. Am I missing something? Is there a certain way to wire a dual purpose battery? When I turn the key, there's only a hard click. But accessories still work.

clean your contacts and terminals. they need to be clean enough to eat off of. that is on both ends of the cables

After you get this sorted out, you should replace the top (in your first picture) ground wire. Lots of corrosion in that wire. You could try cutting it back looking for fresh copper, but I doubt you will find any ( at least in my experience). Use good marine grade wire when you do.
