OK, here is what I have.

I have a 12/24 trolling motor and also have a battery condition gauge mounted up front.

When I check battery #1 & #2 with no load, and they read the same(12V).

With trolling motor engaged in 24V mode at #1 speed, #1 battery shows 11V and #2 battery still shows right at 12V.

My question is, have I got a wiring problem here or is it just maybe drawing more from #1 than #2?

SBN,

It's telling you that your #1 batt. cannot handle the load as well. It will die muck quicker than #2.

Re: Battery Condition

Thanks djohns, but I wonder why.

They are both the same batteries bought at the same time, last spring.

Could one be getting weak or maybe low on water?

Re: Battery Condition

SBN.....Check the water level first, if it is normal, I would take the battery and have it load tested. Most places that sell batteries will do it for free, if they charge, go some where else, like where you bought it. Make sure you fully charge it before the test. That is usually reqired. If it has bad cell, you might have some warranty credit toward a new one.
...Bob in Calif...

Re: Battery Condition

Thanks SoLittle, but I have a charger now that kicks off when it's charged and then kicks back on when the voltage drops any.

I think that was my problem.

I was using two of them and I think the one is not putting out what it is suppose to before it go's green, so I am trying something else tonight.

Re: Battery Condition

Well I think I found my problem.

One of the ends that hook to the battery was really corroded and it fell apart when I went to clean and check the batteries, so I replaced it and will see today if it improved it.

Re: Battery Condition

Well that was the culprit.

Today both batteries were showing the same reading when trolling motor engaged.

Thanks all for the advise. :)
