I'm wanting to add a second battery and an isolator to my 85 sea ray Seville. I'm seeing two types of Isolators, one looks like a Ford starter r solenoid and the other is solid state with a heat sink. Anyone have any experience with the solenoid type? I've used a solid state one before with good results, but the solenoid type is much cheaper. Thanks

Re: battery isolator types

The (Diode) Battery Isolator is old school technology. Replace it if yours died. NOT recommended for new installations.

The (Solenoid/Relay) ACR is modern technology. Recommended for new installations.
