Can anyone tell me how the two batteries are wired in on a 1997 1850 sport fish. There are two batteries. One for starting and the other one for running the console and trolling motor. Do they come with isolators and how is it charged from outboard. thx I have a call into Crestliner also to engineer.

Re: battery question

If it is the same as my Crestliner, it is 2 separate batteries. The battery for the trolling motor would take way too long to be charged from the outboard and most likely requires a stand alone charger. What I did on mine is to install a 3 bank onboard battery charger. I have 2 starting batteries and 1 deep cycle for my trolling motor. I have a Perko switch for the 2 starting batteries which allows me to choose between 1,2, or both.
The onboard charger is attached to all 3 and maintains all 3 fully charged and ready to go whenever I get the urge to use the boat. All I need to do is to run an extension cord to the boat and plug it in. The battery connections are already made. After having the onboard charger I would never use anything else. It couldn't be any easier than just plugging it in. The really nic ething is that I know that at all times all 3 batteries are ready to go.

Re: battery question

I got a 3 bank 15 amp charger. Mine allows for up to all 15 amps going to any 1 of the banks if the other 2 are fully charged. I have 3 batteries so the 3 bank was needed. If you ever think about adding a battery you should get a 3 bank now even though you will only use 2. Whatever brand you get make sure it can send more amps to a battery if the other one is charged. Mine is a BPS but I noticed some nice ones here on iboats.

Re: battery question

The only one I have ever used is the BPS model I now have. They have 2 bank chargers as well and I'm sure iboats has many good 2 bank chargers, I just don't have any knowledge of them. You may want to post this same question in the electronics forum where I'm sure you would get a better response.
Take care and happy boating.
