My Arima was delivered with an Interstate Cranking Battery in 2002. The battery was great until a thief needed it more than I did.. I replaced it with a EverStart dual cycle Marine Battery from Walmart.. It died within 9 months.. I took it back and was given another one... It also died but at the 13 month point so the warranty was pro-rated..
NOW I don't trust the Walmart battery in my boat and am using it in my camper where it is not critical to getting home and am looking for another boat battery... The EverStart was a "Dual Cycle" battery.. what does this mean? I am looking for user suggestions (not salesman pitches) on what battery based on experience I should buy for a replacement in my boat that has a few electronics (GPS, VHF, Depth Finder) and a Honda 50 HP to start.

Batteries are like vehicles. Everyone has there own preference and has had different experiences with them. Personally you couldn't give me an Everstart. I have always gotten excellent service from Delco Voyagers but may try the new Optima the next time. A lot of people speak very highly of them.

I'm a big fan of Optima. They're in my boat, motorhome and sandrail (different types, of course). Never had a problem with them. (Knock on wood)

if you are going to purchase a new battery, and can afford it. I would go to the gel batteries, I have one very large one that ran about $400, and then have two smaller ones that ran about $170ea, they hold a charge alot longer:)
