After searching topic.... No help.
The F1 and F2 posts were not in use when I disassembled, my ammeter shows charging
And I didn't check the batteries while running last fall. Are these necessary for charging. I researched it thru a few sites and need a better explanation.

Thanks

Re: Battery switch connections

Thhink it might help if we knew just what it was we are working on? A battery switch with field disconnect terminals may not be needed on an outboard but may be on an I/O. So what is it you have, and what is the brand and model of the switch. They are not all the same.

Re: Battery switch connections

Correct
In your case the switch is a make before break type so you can switch from 1 to both to 2 and back without problems with the engine running.

If you switch to off with the engine running it can blow your alternator. If your alternator has a field wire connection then either hook it up like in diagram 4 or never turn off with the engine running.
