News Flash ! all is well and the fish don't stand a chance! We have been running the boat on A or B and not both and never change when under power with great results! As always, I find time to review other post and I have to ask this, Do you have to come to the Neg. on both battery with the lead or can you ground each? Both of mine go to ground after inspection yesterday and I was thinking that it might have been part of the issue? so to be clear let me say this, battery A Pos. to switch A neg to ground / Battery B Pos to switch B Neg. to ground. If I need to have a jumper I will put one across, but after looking at other postings, I know that mine is not wired that way. Thanks for the input and I would like to add, we are running 11.5 at idle and 14.5 with just a bump on the throttle, checked it at the Helm with meter and found the dash off by a hair. and only spent $65.00 to have it rebuilt! so to the others, look for a good rebuild shop- spend the time not the money!

Re: battery switch question

Not sure what you asking but I think you are asking do you need a jumper across from neg to neg even though each neg is wired to ground and I would say no as they are both tied together at the ground point.

Re: battery switch question

Ummmmm... Ok your post is a little hard to follow. But yes you need to have a jumper connecting both neg sides of the batteries, or a seperate cable from each negative terminal to your grounding block. Both batteries need to see ground to complete your circuits. Also marine wiring is different than automotive in that all your ground from accessories need to be ran back to the battery. DO NOT GROUND TO YOUR ALUMINUM HULL OR SUBSTRUCTURES EVER.

Both ways are correct. Sorry for the bad diagrams I was trying to go quick.

Electrically, it doesn't matter whether each battery goes to ground individually or if they are jumpered on the negative posts with a continuation lead going to ground. Just make sure your connections are clean and tight.

Re: battery switch question

Thanks for the help, and advise / sorry about the post, my son did a cut and started a new line to move it up to the top. But yes both NEG. go to the block and are very clean and tight, and both POS. go to the switch. We run on one at a time A or B and never Both (A/B) at the same time. after reading some of the post and not knowing what would happen we just pass
