Quick and simple. I have a , off, batt 1, both, batt 2 switch. If I hook the + engine cable to feed then put batt 1 on terminal 1, batt 2 on ter. 2 Can I run a seperate wire from batt terminal 2, to fuse block, for house load,[going to fuse block for electronics]? Will that [batt 2] be hot all the time? How will that charge, only when batt switch is in batt2 or both position? Just trying to seperate the loads. Any suggestions?

Re: BATTERY SWITCH

Do as you said, except hook the fuse block feed to the COM terminal on the switch which is the same terminal the POS wire from the engine is hooked to. When you are anchored or using accessories, switch to BAT 2 (HOUSE). This isolates the accessories from BAT 1. When ready to get underway, switch to BAT 1 or BOTH, start the the engine and go. In the BOTH position, both batteries will charge. If your switch is a "make-before-break" type, you can switch positions with the engine running without damaging the regulator/rectifier. By hooking your accessories directly to one of the batteries as you originally suggested, you defeat the purpose of the switch. OFF would not disconnect the accessories and if one is left on, you still end up with a dead battery.
