Re: battery type?

No need to be confused. Automotive batteries are for -- well automotive use. You can certainly use one in your boat. The starter doesn't care what type of battery the juice comes from. However, a battery in a boat takes a little more of a beating than in a car so a battery labeled "Marine Starting" is what you "should" have. Yes -- 750 cca is fine. Then there are "Dual Purpose" which can be used for Starting or Deep Cyle (trolling motors). Since they are dual purpose, they do not perform quite as well either the "Marine Starting" or a true "Deep Cycle" and are a compromise for both applications. Next is a "Deep Cycle" which is intended primarily for trolling motor use. So there you have it. You can actually use any one of those batteries but your obvious choice should be the "Marine Starting". If you have a farm store (like Tractor Supply or Fleet Farm) try them first. My experience has been they have the best prices.

750 is fine, but i like bigger batteries, for those bigger motors, especially if you happen to flood it, or it is hard to start.
