2008 chaparral 27 ft 8.1 G.I. The boat has two batteries and has A switch box with battery one battery two and emergency
The guy bought it from put an aftermarket battery charger that goes to the backside of the switches.
on the back wall behind the motor there is a ground block.
here is my question the starting battery goes only to the ground block behind the motor. There was a wire that connected the two batteries negative side that is not hooked up anymore is that correct or should these be jumped together.

From what I "think" your saying how its wired I would say no, that is not correct

Grounds from both bats should connect to the engine block together with large enough size cables. Another wire sould go from the engine block to the Ground buss bar

The battery switch should have the positive cables run to it, with the common going to the starter.

Yeah my house battery is definitely going to the back of the engine and then a big wire up to the bus bar. From starting battery ground is going directly to the bus bar. Not connected to the other battery. Could I heard anything by hooking this wire back up?

You would not hurt anything connecting directly to the engine block and it actually should be connected there. The engine block is the main connection point, the buss bar is a secondary point for distribution to other items
