Bayliner 2006 195 vs 2007 195 Discovery

My seemingly neverending quest for a new boat continues. Started off offering my old man $1000 to get the 16' aluminum fishing boat with a 15hp running and in a bit better shape... then went to a budget of about $5000 for a newer console aluminum and now about a week later we're at a budget of about $15,000-$20,000 and into upwards of 19ft fiberglass boats...

How'd that happen!? heheh

Anyways, my heart is set towards a not quite affordable Bayliner... ya ya quality shmality it's basically the best I can afford for the amount of boat I'll get fun out of with 7+ of my friends.

Now the local dealer has two options. 2007 195 Discovery with a 3.0 Mercruiser for $21,000CDN or a 2006 195 with a 4.3 Mercruiser for about $23,000CDN.

For me and my dad the Discovery package seems more of a fish/ski combo and comes with nicer full standup tops and more walking deck room. The 195 comes with a larger engine and sleeker look/design and a swim platform.

So I'm asking for opinions because both myself and my Pop are pretty torn between the two (he still wants a 16' Crestliner for the same amount mind you).

Anyone have some fact based knowledge on performance differences between 195 Discovery 3.0 vs 195 4.3? Speed? Fuel economy? etc.

Which would you choose?

get the 4.3

if ya get the 3.0, yer gonna wish ya had more.....ya can always get the amenitys later. ie top.....

buddy of mine has a bayline 185 w/4.3. it suits him just fine. handles real well and gps's at 53 or so too. pretty speedy for a bayliner......
