Hi Guys,

I am having trouble finding a good fish and ski boat here in Canada... ANYONE SELLING? LET ME Know!

Back to my question... does bayliner make a good fish and ski boat? would you recommend one or stay away from one. I am only looking at newer being around 2006 and eariler... not sure if some years are better for others when it comes to quality.

Also, any specific models i should be looking at for bayliner for their fish and ski? can't seem to locate model for them.

Thanks in advance....

I have a 2001 Bayliner 184 Fish N Ski and I really like it. I believe the 184 is the only Bayliner fish n ski model but I could be wrong. Mine is a outboard which I wanted but the newer ones I think are only I/O's if they still make the model. As far a quality it is a entry level boat but has everything I was looking for.Quality from my research got better in the late 90's.

Any boat (within reason) can be a fish-n-ski. I had a Model 2002 (W/A cuddy) that served the purpose well. Only 2 seats in the cockpit area with plenty of walking/fishing room, a small cuddy for inclement weather, and a 150HP Merc that pushed the boat to 50 MPH...plenty enough to ski behind, which we did quite a bit.

Find the boat that you like and see if it will fit the bill of what you want to do.

I've also skied behind a 20' CC fisherman 13 miles out in the open ocean. All depends on what you want to do...

Isn't it difficult to fish from a boat that does not have pedestal seats?? Also i guess you can install a trolling motor to the front of any boat?

I am new to all this... Sorry of it is a stupid question.

If you buy a boat with the fish and ski option you usually get a pedestal mounted seat in the bow for fishing along with a trolling motor.

Some fish n ski boats do put more emphasis on fishing.

You don't mention budget. ???

Ranger Reata or Crestliner Sportfish are good.
Both come in several layout configurations that offer more, or less, fishing related items, like 7' rod lockers, baitwells, livewells, rear casting decks, or not.

If you plan on fishing from a seat, it is a lot easier if the gunnels (sides of the boat) are less than 22' above the floor.

"Canada" covers a lot of area. Where are you, and how far are you willing to travel?

My bayliner has pedestals in the front and rear, also all the cushions are removed and there are inserts to create a nice casting deck in the bow and the trolling motor is easy to operate. The rear casting deck also has a lot of room. You can fish out of any boat but you need to decide what your going to do more first in my opinion. We cruise and do watersports 75% of the time and fish the other 25%. If you are going to fish more I would look at something like a Mirrocraft Dual Impact or something like a Pro-craft fish n ski both nice boats but geared a little more towards fishing.
