The previous owner had damaged the gel coat and was wondering would this be an easy repair or should I take it to a shop?. It's about 3 feet forward of the transom next to one of the trailer bunks
Depends on what you want. If it has to be a exact match. There is a gel coat repair kit I used it works well. Hard part is getting the color right. Spread it on with a bondo squeegie sand and buff looks perfect. It you can live with your color matching.
Check out this video, its a great resource for color matching... You probably wont get it perfect, but I've used this method and you can't even tell from a couple feet.
I had it in the shop to get a fish finder and rod holders installed right after I saw the damage and pointed it out to the repair shop. He said don't worry about it, it's only cosmetic. Do I need to get this repaired asap?
