I'm considering buying a 1997 Jazz as a family runabout/skiing/tubing boat. The price is $4500. What do you all think? Are they good boats? Any known issues with them? Thanks.
remember with a jet, you loose 30-40 % horsepower because of the ineffiecency of the jet drive, compared to a prop driven boat. jet 200 hp = 140hp out the drive, propped 200hp = 200hp at the prop. thus you are going to burn more of that $3.25 a gallon gas. to achieve the same speed and power.
i agree, it's ashame your not in North Carolina, Gary H NC, just put his starcraft on ebay, will sell just in your price range. just take a look for kicks, ebay # 250120383194
those boats are ok with just 2 or 3 people, they don't ride very good either. that 120 sportjet is a 2 stroke and it will burn a tank a day easily. the pulling power is low and unless you get the weight in the boat just right, it takes awhile to get on plane when pulling a skier. they are great for low water lakes and rivers, a 17 to 18 ft with a v-6 is usually the best way to start out
i am new to boating and bought a 93 bayliner jazz with a 90 motor
where can i get information on how to change the impellor and ring gear it slipps on takeoff and then doe ok any suggestions Thanks Charlie
