I have a 1990 bayliner capri 1850 with a 3.0 motor, replaced the out drive water pump at Ron's marine, replaced the engine water pump and thermostat along with some hoses. Have also check fan belt looks good and is tight. I can idle all day long at normal temp but as soon as I run up to cruising speed it heats up very fast. Any body have any thoughs on this.

How old is the impeller in the drive? It's always the first suspect in an overheat.

Who replaced the out drive water pump at Rons marine? Also was is the whole pump, inpeller and housing or just impeller? Did you see what the old one looked like?

Sometimes pieces of an old, broken up impeller can get lodged in the raw water side cooling system that might not show itself at low rpm or on a garden hose but when under higher rpm or load can cause high temperatures.

Another possibility is on the exhaust side with blocked manifold/elbow components or gaskets that have failed.

If you've replaced all that (properly), then the next suspect is riser\manifold clogged with crap and corruption. The cooling water has to be able to get out, as well as in.

Well if it was melted bad then a good chance some pieces may have gone into the raw water cooling side hoses and now partial blocking the water flow and/or other components melted also.
Seems like you're going to need to check some stuff.

You don't list a serial number whether you have a gen1 or gen2 drive so maybe post that also.

Here's a post you might want to read:

If you ran it very long with a smoked impeller, there are other components up stream that may be smoked, disintegrated and clogging up the coolant system.
