I recently purchased a 1979 Bayliner Victoria and am trying to find where I can buy a set of owner and maintenance manuals for the boat. I have a book on the Volvo Penta 255B I/O that seems to be good but nothing on the boat. What I need to know is what size prop we should use and what speed we should expect with a given size prop. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I would guess that in your are there are some prop rebuild shops. Talk to them, most know what prop is best and will work with you to make sure you have the right one.

Re: Bayliner Victoria info

Thanks for the reply. I contacted the two Bayliner dealers locally and the only recommendation they had was to buy a new boat, not much help there. For some reason the San Diego area is not very boat friendly as far as the dealers are concerned. I've had two places refuse to sell me parts, said they didn't have time to mess with it. What I had hoped was maybe someone would sell zerox copies of the owner manuals.

Try the link below. This shop is here in the Seattle area and know what they are talking about when it comes to props.
As I remember from my days as a Bayliner dealer their owners manuals didn't give much detail on anything. As you said going to a dealer isn't any help, they just want to sell you a new boat.

Give this shop a try.
The Prop Shop
