Bayport Florida Grouper

Well, had a little surprise this morning after sleeping in a little and trying to put some of the Christmas madness behind me. Mama asked for a fishing trip! By 10:30 we were at the ramp and dropping in. The Gulf was like a lake as we motored about 30 miles offshore to some new spots we found in around 55'-60' of water. The first spot was really small and hard to stay over so we motored out a bit more. The bottom showed some good structure, so bombs away with dead pinfish, squirrelfish and some squid. It wasnt long and all he** started breaking loose. The first grouper over the side was 25" and legal! Throughout the rest of the morning and early afternoon bite we snared three more grouper, nice black sea bass and some grey snapper. We probably put thirty fish over the gunnel all told..
Just finished the beer batter and heating up the oil, getting ready for a little meal of grouper fingers, cole slaw and hush puppies..
