Be careful what you wish for you just might get it. Well Arnold has it now and he has to produce. CA has got a lot of problems to put it mildly. There are going to be a lot of people hoping to see him fail. I give him credit. He either has a lot of guts for taking this major project on, or he is really niave and doesn't realize what he is up against.

Politicians all across the country had a glass of very cold water thrown in their face last night. People are mad as heck and aren't going to take it any more.

I seen his interview on TV this am, and he says he's ready to get to work today.

We shall see. Like Ralph says, a lot of problems in that state.

Also noticed Maria was not looking to happy beside him neither.

Does that mean she knows what he is up against and he don't. Only time will tell.

I hope the best for him and the people of California.

Good luck to Caleefornia!

That state has lots of systemic problems, among which are a ton of initiatives that have passed that work contradictory to each other. Some that limit taxes while others increase spending.

If Californians think changing governors is going to be some magic fix, more power to them. when there are problems, it is always handy to have someone around to blame.

CA has one major hidden cash cow: The CA Lottery. They only do $2B a year with 35M people. MA for example does $3B a year with only 6M people. If they just brought that up to snuff it cound easily generate another $10B in revenue.

He's got his work cut out for him. He can't do any worse than Davis did though and if he does do worse he can go back to making movies.

ply, it would sure be nice if you posted when you actually knew what you were talking about instead of pretending. Sour grapes I'm sure, since all things negative float your boat.
I have to say I actually thought of you last night as I was punching my ballot with that so very inaccurate, so hard to use, so unreliable punch card machine. Nary a chad.
The hole was approx. 2mm x 2mm. Definatly large enough for all your positive thoughts and constructive intelligence to pass through!

huminski, wtf did I ever do to you anyhow? Some utopia that N. Jersey is I'm told. Your like a suburb of New York, right?( :D lol :D )

Not to blame any of you out of towners since the media stirred you up.
Record voter turn out here. A clear mandate with Republicans taking close to 65% of the vote. This gave our forever in power (and definately worth blaming) Democratic State legislature something to think about and sweat over. While you guys have been laughing and taking great pride in your own states sad problems we (the voters) took control of our state and took care of business last night.
Sorry for you, some of you can't appreciate what actually happend here in this so terrible, troubled state last night.

Skinnywater -

There is hope.

There is no state more run by the Dems that MA - I don't think anybody would argue with that.

We elected Mitt Romney (R) (the guy who saved the Winter Olympics is Salt Lake) Govenor

He has made a big impact. Consolidating, cutting waste, etc. He has done a remarkable job getting our financial house in order rather quickly. He just takes the hard facts to the people and the legislature has no choice but to go along. It's worked like a charm for him.

Hopefully Arnold can do the same for you all.

Have to mention that even RI elected a (R) governor last round (Don Carcieri). He's been going at it hard, but wow, talk about some stiff opposition from the old school Dems and unions. As you may know, Ralph, the only state government more corrupt than RI is MA! :D

Re: Be Careful What You Wish For - Arnie Wins

Hmmm... so you were able to do a survey of all the voting machines! I am impressed. And the original point was not necessarily that they were in bad shape, but that nobody really knew what shape each of them would be in and what impact it could have on the election. If the election had been close.

And you are sure that Arnie's a republican? How do you know that? He would not answer any direct press questions, and spoke in vague generalities in all of his speeches, and appearances on Jay Leno and Oprah's show. How in the world do you have any idea what he is about? Other than he pinned the label "Republican" on his lapel.

I do freely admit that Davis has been a terrible governor. I also agree that Bustamante would have been worse.

I still am against the recall, and think this sets a dangerous precedent. there is a reason the founders settled on a representative democracy, and not a direct democracy. A representative democracy has an automatic recall process in a prescribed timetable, also known as elections. A direct democracy can lead to mob rule, and chaos.

As I said, good luck to Caleefornia.

Re: Be Careful What You Wish For - Arnie Wins

It was actually a simple solution. The polling people said, "Check you ballots for accuracy and chads please and remove them if they are present." For that the ACLU didn't need to step in.

Ply, what you and so mnany others don't understand, and couldn't possible know. Because the media and Leno doesn't educate and inform, they entertain.
Let me try to inform you again.
As a dissenter as you proudly portray, you'll be interested in this.
Dissenters usually don't do anything but holler, hold signs and get attention. But they don't do anything to actively change the situation! They don't work within the system, or vote, or have the ability to be solution based.

What happend in California was well within the law and constitution. Over 700,000 of the requiered 800,000 petition signatures were gathered from grassroots citizens before Darrel Issa stepped in with big money.
This recall was a mass dissent against our government that didn't represent its citizens at all. Election after election, citizens would overwhelmingly vote proposition after proposition in or out. Only to have a judge misinterpret law or blatantly make law that would undermine the will of the people of this state.
Now to drive it home ply, the citizens would vote and their will would be illegally and unconstitutionally undermined. For this you say it sets dangerous president. Again, you really haven't a clue.
All of you should be dang proud of a state that actually came togeather in great numbers and regained control of our government.
If it took a Republicrat to do it, fine!

But one things for sure ply, it is solution based.
Therefore way above your understanding. ;)
