Bearing Buddy re install

Can anyone tell me if Bearing Buddies can be safely reinstalled once they have been taken off or will they likely loosen and fall off? I have purchased an older boat trailer with Bearing Buddy like attachments on its wheels but I would like to take them off so that I can remove the hubs from the axles and clean the old grease out of the bearings and races and start fresh for my own peace of mind. Your advice would be appreciated.

Sometimes a rather loose one will work off. If you are worried, drill a small hole near the end of the hub and tap it for a setscrew.

"Bearing Buddy like attachments"

This catches my eye If they are not bearing buddies they MAY be sure lube or ez lube bearings where you simply pump in new grease pushing the old out at the same time.......

That said... yeah you should be able to remove and replace MANY times....

I can't keep em straight... I'm thinking of the ones I have with a plastic cap resembling a BB ... grease is pumped into the cap and exits into the axle tube... reliable something or other

EDIT: HEY WAIT JUST A MINUTE... the thingamajigs in your post clearly say EZ-LUBE...... you messin w me? LOL

You can re-use. Just tap them off with a rubber mallet. just did to my buddies trailer.

They are not an end-all part. The bearings still need periodic repacking. So, yes they are meant to go on and off.

I had issues where mine went back in but lost one and almost the other as they did not fit as snug...Might sound silly but I used foil tape around mine once out of desperation, and I found this works well not only on the buddies but the caps as well. I clean the hub, wrap once and that is IT....The glue on that tape holds well even after multiple tows and dunkings....
